Terms of service

Last updated 2026-10-21

A plain-language draft written before launch. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before the public release; we will tell account holders before any change takes effect.

The service

pinwise, run by pinwise (Imiel Visser), scans the dependency files of repositories you choose, produces tickets and verifies their closure by rescanning. It reads; it does not write to your repositories or run your code.

Your account

You sign in with GitHub or with your email address (through Clerk) and are responsible for what happens under your account and API keys. Keep keys secret and revoke any you think have leaked.

Acceptable use

  • Only connect or scan repositories you are allowed to.
  • Do not try to break, overload or bypass the rate limits of the service.
  • Do not use the public scanner to collect data about other people's repositories at scale.

Advice, not a guarantee

Tickets, safe targets and research are recommendations generated from public registry, advisory and changelog data. They can be incomplete or wrong. You and your agents decide what to change and should review every change before it ships. A verified closure means the rescan saw the target version, not that your app works.

Plans and payment

Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe and renew until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; the plan stays active until the end of the paid period. The free plan never needs a card.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as is, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending

You can delete your workspace at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, and will tell you why.
